Session One: Interest-Based Negotiations for Better Results and Better Relationships

In many ways, the life of a Project Manager is negotiation.  The world can seem an endless stream of trade-offs and compromises, and it’s easy to fall into a jaded world of winners and losers. In this session, the speaker will walk you through the concept of “interest-based” negotiations as outlined in the best seller ‘Getting to Yes’.  You’ll learn the concept, understand how it can benefit current and future relations and techniques to help get you there using a real-world scenario.

Session Two: Learn from the Mafia: The Management Secrets of the ‘Honorable’ Society

For hundreds of years, The Italian mafia is a very successful business organization. During this session, we talk about their unbeatable leadership principles and learn the rules for “simple employees” to middle management and top management and how we can apply them as project managers. Our speaker will share a discussion of the principles and how we translate them into recommendations for us as PMs. Some examples:

  1. Don’t end up the back of a car: For PMs it means don’t get involved in office politics.
  2. The toughest guys often have “sift skin: For PMs it means don’t get blame anyone in public.
  3. A victory without plan B is like pasta without desert: For PMs it means crisis management.

Someone who has diplomatic skills, can lead and motivate people will be successful in any domain – as a business leader, as a politician, as member of the mafia and project manager. During the meeting we will run a quiz with 5 questions being asked with the right answer being awarded one of five different prizes valued at a total of 8,000 THB.
