About this Project

The Bureau of Urban Planning and Development manages the Bangkok City Model, which is located in Bangkok’s Ding Daeng area. Since 2009, it has been open to the public.

All people interested in urban planning will find the model to be a useful learning tool. At a size of 1:750, many buildings in Bangkok may be seen in detail. The model depicts the inner city and Thonburi districts of Bangkok, which are separated by the Chaoprhaya river.

The Grand Palace, Temple of the Emerald Buddha, Wat Saket, Wat Pho, Wat Arun, Wat Sutat, Bayok Sky Tower, Ananta Samakhom Throne Hall, the Giant Swing, and Mahanakorn Building are among the city’s most notable landmarks represented in this model. Aerial photographs were provided by the Geographic Information Division, which were utilised in the development of this project. In addition, data from a variety of government agencies and private building owners was used to create this model. Some of the ornate models for the Grand Palace, Phra Chetuphon Temple, and other ancient landmarks were made by architectural students from numerous universities.

This model is also updated on a regular basis to reflect changes in the city and to guarantee that it remains current and accurate. If you visited this model five years ago and now, you will undoubtedly notice substantial modifications as a result of the continuous development and refinement.

This model is located at the Bureau of Planning and Urban Development in Bangkok, Din Daeng District. It is on the 3rd floor of the building.
