Project management is a critical discipline that ensures the successful completion of projects in a timely and efficient manner. Thus, many of us who are working in the technical fields such as system implementation and construction management usually pursue skill development in project management because we believe it is directly related to our work.
Nothing is wrong with that, but that is not the whole story. Actually, project management know-how can be applied in any kind of project work that has a start date and an end date. The principles of project management, such as scope management, stakeholder engagement, risk management, and change management, can be applied regardless of the type of project engagement.
In this session, we will share a real-life case study of applying project management know-how to non-technical project engagement. The discussion will be on implementing digital transformation initiatives in two types of organizations: public and private. For the private company, the discussion will be focused specifically on the retail industry as an example.
During the session, we will also discuss the key skills and competencies needed to succeed as a project manager in these industries, such as leadership, communication, and adaptability. Attendees will leave the session with a deeper understanding of how to effectively manage projects in the public and private sectors, and how to navigate the unique challenges that arise in these industries.
