Special Session – A Problem Solving Lecture
We have all heard the term: “Digital Transformation”. Both the Public (government) and Private (commercial) sectors desire to “transform” and become more effective – but find it difficult to take the first step. How does one begin? Thus, as part of my TRUE Digital Park Ideation stint, I will use “eProject Management” (ePM) tools.
Your ideas and suggestions would be most welcome!
Digital transformation can be defined as the process of utilizing modern technology to create new – or modify existing – business processes, culture, and customer experiences.
The Problem
Digital Transformation
Why ePM? Project Management is useful for enhancing PHYSICAL Business Processes. Whereas Digital Twin and Automation IT-technology is useful for enhancing DIGITAL Business Processes. Thus, ePM could assist clients “take the big leap” in transforming Business Processes from the physical ⇒ digital. Conceivably, ePM (eProject Management) may include: PM techniques (e.g., Agile PM) + eConsultants + IoT (e.g., Digital Twin, AI-Automation, Process Mining, Cloud software tools). The “office” would revolve around (e.g.) MS Teams.
Can eProject Management actually work? To pilot test (and prove) the ePM proposal, why not start with a rural town in Thailand (Phimai)? Our goal is to create a “Smart Village”: create a Digital Twin (of Phimai) and use Process-Mining to identify opportunities for digital efficiency. Our KPI will be to (significantly) raise the regional GDP of the Phimai region. Let’s focus on improving: (Phimai village) education, healthcare, public works, agriculture, commerce. If successful, we can clone the ePM process to neighboring villages (globally)!
