Paperless project management for construction projects is not only about “going green”, “saving trees”, “saving money on paper”, but also about “saving professional times”, “improving communications”, “reducing project costs”, “satisfying customer”, and “proving and resolving claims”. Mega construction projects can involve thousands of drawings and their revisions, hundreds of variation/change orders, RFIs and submittals, and hundreds of reports and minutes, and millions of electronic mails and documents, which record key events and causal connection to the event causing the damage. Thus good document procedures can aid the contractor in giving the timely notices of claims or delays with good supporting documents to identify and prove the actual damages and/or delay to the projects. The presentation aims to demonstrate that good document procedures are vital to give proper notices of claims and to reserve any contractual rights which ultimately help to resolve and settle claims and disputes in the field.
