PMI Thailand Chapter Strategic Planning Workshop 2026

Building the Next Phase of Chapter Growth

On February 7, 2026, the PMI Thailand Chapter Board convened for an extended Transition and Strategic Planning Workshop at Four Points by Sheraton, Bangkok Ploenchit. The session marked the first comprehensive working session of the 2026–2028 Board and set the direction for the year ahead.

This was not a routine meeting. It was a focused working session designed to translate vision into execution.

Leadership Continuity and Governance Stability

The workshop began with a formal review of the completed governance transition. With the successful implementation of the biennial election cycle and onboarding of the newly elected Board, the Chapter now operates under a structure that strengthens leadership continuity and long-term planning. Board members reviewed governance expectations, PMI compliance requirements, and onboarding progress. This structure ensures that strategic decisions rest on a stable foundation and align fully with PMI Global standards.

A Structured Approach to Growth Under the Single Membership Model

One of the key themes of the workshop was adapting to the PMI Single Membership Model. Rather than viewing the rule as a constraint, the Board positioned it as an opportunity to increase early engagement and demonstrate clear member value. The chapter will focus on guiding newly enrolled members to participate in at least one chapter activity within their first six months. The approach includes structured welcome communications, targeted membership campaigns, and high-quality events designed to convert interest into sustained engagement. Success will not be measured by attendance alone. We will track satisfaction scores, follow-up participation, and campaign impact throughout the year.

Diversifying Professional Development

The Board reaffirmed its commitment to delivering relevant and diverse professional development opportunities. In 2026, the chapter will organize a full calendar of monthly lectures and focused workshops covering multiple themes across the PMI Talent Triangle. The intention is clear. Balance technical depth with leadership capability and business acumen. New and emerging topics will be introduced, and first-time speakers from different industries will be invited to broaden perspectives. This approach strengthens both content quality and network diversity.

Strengthening University and Student Engagement

The chapter continues to invest in university collaboration as a long-term growth strategy. Planned initiatives include inviting universities to participate in chapter lectures and conducting direct outreach visits to introduce PMI certifications and career pathways to students. These engagements position PMI Thailand as a bridge between academic preparation and professional practice.

Enhancing Member Experience Through Feedback and Recognition

The workshop emphasized that growth without quality experience is not sustainable. The chapter will implement structured feedback collection across major events and translate insights into measurable improvements. Targets for satisfaction scores have been defined, and performance will be reviewed regularly.

Recognition programs will continue to expand. Active PMP holders with five or more years of involvement and members with ten or more years of continuous membership will be formally recognized. The PMI Thailand Success Story Program will also continue, featuring members who share how PMI certifications and chapter engagement have influenced their careers. These initiatives reinforce belonging, visibility, and professional pride.

The Project of the Year Award will be elevated.

A major highlight for 2026 is the continued development of the Project of the Year Award. The Board discussed judging panels, scoring criteria aligned with PMI Global standards, nomination processes, and communication strategies. The award will recognize excellence across multiple categories and culminate in a formal ceremony later in the year. This initiative strengthens the chapter’s role as a platform for recognizing outstanding project management practice in Thailand.

Experiential Learning and Certification Awareness

Beyond lectures and workshops, the chapter will expand experiential learning through field trips to active project sites. These visits allow members to observe real-world project execution and connect theory with practice. Certification orientation sessions for PMP, PMI ACP, and other credentials will also be delivered to support informed professional development decisions.

Execution with Accountability

Every initiative discussed during the workshop was assigned an owner, timeline, and measurable target. Progress will be reviewed quarterly to ensure delivery and accountability.
The 2026 Strategic Plan reflects a disciplined approach. Clear priorities. Defined metrics. Assigned ownership.

Moving Forward

The Strategic Planning Workshop demonstrated the new board’s commitment to structured growth, operational discipline, and sustained member value. The PMI Thailand Chapter is entering 2026 with leadership stability, a focused engagement strategy, diversified programming, and strengthened recognition initiatives. The direction is clear. Build value. Strengthen community. Elevate standards.

We look forward to engaging with our members throughout the year and continuing to grow the PMI Thailand community together.
