“Win-Win” Negotiations – Introduction to Concept and Methodologies

Project managers negotiate in all aspects and throughout the entire life cycle of all of their projects.  They start negotiating for projects as a client within their own organization and with government agencies and continue to negotiate with contractors, suppliers, vendors and on and on.  Sometimes we even talk about “Win –Win” negotiations.

So what is “Win – Win” Negotiations?  Ask a number of project managers and you will have as many different answers as people asked.  MBA programs offer full semester courses on this specific topic and there are numerous multi day seminars on it.

This month’s presentation will be an introduction to first the concept of “Win – Win” negotiations and how it is different from the traditional ways negotiations occur and then into the methodologies of “Win –Win” and how to implement it.

Mr. Stephen A. Vianelli has 30 years of experience, 15 of them in Southeast Asia, consulting and developing projects for refineries, gas/oil separation plants, pipelines, power plants and commercial buildings.  A number of these projects were valued at over US $1 Billion.  His career has evolved from designing these projects through to managing them as project manager and program manager and today he consults and trains project managers and their project teams.

Presently, with The Mentor Group, he is developing and implementing PMO’s, and conducting project management audits for clients. He is creating and presenting project management workshops, in all areas of project management, at all corporate levels to Thai and multinational companies. He is an adjunct professor at Manhattan College in New York and AIT in Bangkok, and a guest lecturer at Chulalongkorn University, training and lecturing numerous courses in all aspects of Project Management.  He is also a lecturer for Boston University Corporate Education Center (BUCEC),

Mr. Vianelli is a Certified Project Management Professional (PMP) by the Project Management Institute (PMI) and Vice President – Membership of the PMI Thailand chapter. He has an International Executive MBA from Sasin, he received his Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Manhattan College, is the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) Thailand Correspondent and American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), University Student Mentor for Thailand.
