This section summarizes excerpts of news from the ASEAN community as made available from ASEAN Secretariat News website. The intention is to point our readers’ attention to what is happening in the AEC as related to project management.
The development cooperation seminar series was launched by the ASEAN Secretariat starting with “Project Monitoring & Evaluation.” This was held on 16 June 2015 in Jakarta with the support of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH and the Federal Foreign Office of the Federal Republic of Germany. The objective of the seminar series is to strengthen the region’s project management capacity.
In his opening speech, Dr. AKP Mochtan, Deputy Secretary-General of ASEAN for Community & Corporate Affairs, remarked the importance of monitoring for results in support of ASEAN’s journey towards a people-oriented, people-centered and rules-based ASEAN. Mr. David Gudisch from the German Embassy in Jakarta appreciated the Secretariat’s efforts to align monitoring and evaluation exercises to international standard and practices.

Two distinguished experts, Dr. Alexander Boehmer, Head of OECD Southeast Asia Regional Programme, and Mr. Bernard Woods, Principal Results Management Specialist of Asian Development Bank (ADB) presented study results from the international community and shared experiences in establishing results-oriented frameworks. Over 60 participants from the ASEAN Secretariat, ASEAN programme and project facilities and ASEAN Member States attended the event.
