Is It Done Yet?

Event Date:October 19, 2011

Almost all project managers, at one time or another, get a new project and have to start with initiation activities.  James just changed jobs to be a new project manager with “Peeples Make It (PMI) Chocolate Company”.  He has been given an assignment to get a new chocolate through development and into people’s mouths. What steps will the new Project Manager have to go through to complete this job?

In this interactive session, a project will be reviewed from initiation to closure. Although the process will be simplified to allow for a one-hour session, topics on Initiation, Planning, Executing and Monitoring stages of a project will be covered.  Though the example case study is within a chocolate company, the issues presented are applicable in Information Technology, Engineering, Construction and other fields.

Details of the case study will be reviewed and participants will be separated into small groups to discuss the case and look for positive and negative steps that James, the Project Manager, has executed.  The groups will then have the opportunity to practice scope analysis and management, scheduling, crisis management and issue resolution techniques to recover from a disastrous situation brought about by a “meltdown”.
