Lessons Learned from Business Transformation Projects in the Automotive Mobility Services Industry

The Automotive Finance and Automotive Mobility Services Industry currently finds itself in a highly changing environment facing disruption in several areas simultaneously. New technologies, new business models, new competitors and being influenced by ecological and thus political drivers make this industry in an unusually interesting place.

The core finance and leasing business is highly reliant on technology and is typically managed through only one core IT-systems. Replacement of such an IT system is impacting the entire organization and usually leads not only to a change of all existing business processes but in many cases also to strategic changes in the business model itself. Most of the players in the market only have undergone such an intense business transformation for their very first time in the past few years since incorporation of their companies.

The lecture will cover the key lessons learned from the past 10 years in such large scale business transformation projects – these lessons learned can be transferred to a variety of other change projects in different industries.

Benjamin Bliklen is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) and has over 10 years of
(multi-)project management experience in large scale transformation projects. During his university studies he founded a student consultancy with more than 30 members focusing on Project Management. An award winning master thesis on the topic of connecting corporate strategy with project management within the Automotive Mobility Services Industry started his career in this interesting business field. Since then he has been working as a management consultant in different project lead roles in projects in more than 20 countries around the world. He has been consulting companies in the industry starting from feasibility calculations over company setups in new markets, up until new product implementations and business transformations. He is a director of the SEA regional office of AVANTALION Consulting Group, a consultancy highly specialized in the Automotive Mobility Services Industry. Customers include well-known automotive brands such as Daimler, Volkswagen, Hyundai, Isuzu, Jaguar Land Rover, and others.
