Field Trip: MRT Blue Line Extension

What: Field Trip to the MRT Blue Line Extension Project: Hua Lamphong – Bang Khae and Tao Poon – Tha Phra Sections.

When: Tuesday 25th August 2015 from 1.00 pm – 5.30 pm

Meeting place: Novotel Ploenchit (near BTS Ploenchit station)

Price: Members: 350 Baht   Non-Members: 500 Baht


 

MRTA will give the presentation at Thapra office, then you will visit one of the two underground stations.  One station, Itsaraphap station, is approximately 15 minutes away by car from Thapra.  At the station, you will be able to see both “station” and “tunnel” works.

The project consists of a 27-kilometer underground and elevated heavy rail transit system with 4 underground stations and 15 elevated stations situated along the route, 3 intervention shafts, 1 railway bridge, a depot with operation control centre and 2 park and ride building facilities.

The Mass Rapid Transit Authority of Thailand (MRTA) was authorized by the Cabinet on 27 May 2008 to implement the MRT Blue Line Extension Project for the Civil Works portion (structural, architectural, trackwork and building services works) and the consulting services for civil works.

Note:

  • Bus will leave Novotel hotel at 1.00 pm and back to the hotel approx. 5.30pm (depending on traffic condition). There is no parking onsite the MRTA recommended that we go together as a group.
  • Lunch not included however a snack box and water will be provided during the trip.
  • The trip is limited to 28 people.

Important notes for the site visit:

At the station:

  • Safety Helmet needs to be worn at all times (helmets will be provided on site)
  • Covered shoes and no high heels
  • No skirts
  • No shorts

At the Tunnel:

  • Due to MRTA rules, females are not allowed to enter the tunnel during the tunnel visit, they can wait at a waiting area or walk around the station.
  • No flammable items
  • No smoking
  • You cannot enter the tunnel if you have health conditions e.g. heart disease, high blood pressure, etc.
