Challenges, Challenges, and more Challenges!

by Dr. Petros Rigas, President PMI Thailand Chapter

A renowned bishop once said: “Everywhere a greater joy is preceded by a greater suffering”.

Our journey this year has been both challenging and rewarding. All strenuous efforts to prepare for our “One Day Event in Project Management” on May 11 have been realized after witnessing an influx of more than 85 participants into our Event Ballroom. What a great sense of accomplishment for all of us and what a great sense of self-fulfillment. This is the joy of volunteering – the joy of giving back to the community.

Our journey has not ended. We have a lot to endure and therefore ample more opportunities for self-fulfillment and much greater joy. We are planning a “One Day Training Event on Agile Project Management” on August 3 and another “One Day Workshop on Setting up a Project Management Office (PMO)” scheduled September 28. Both opportunities entitle Chapter members to PDUs or Contact Hours for either PMP Certification renewal or PMP (or PMI-ACP) Certification qualification. Again, such opportunities are also open to all other professionals interested in pursuing careers in Project Management or related. Our volunteer efforts together with your supportive participation both contribute towards minimizing cost of individual attendance at these or future events. Hence please make every effort possible to attend and support our initiatives……Read online.

by Mr. Will Vattananun, Content Committee Lead, PMI Thailand Chapter

The 11th of September in 2001 was a Tuesday. I was working in New York City, and it was just like any other normal work day for me.  At the time, I was employed by a financial services company as an Information Technology specialist.  It was a beautiful late summer day.  That morning, I was stationed in one of the company’s Midtown Manhattan offices.   At around 9:00 A.M., one of my co-workers who was off that day called our department and told us that there was a fire in one of the World Trade Center Twin Towers in Downtown Manhattan…Read online.

Become a PMI Thailand Chapter Sponsor!

by Mr. Joseph Fincher, Executive Vice President, PMI Thailand Chapter

PMI Thailand is dedicated to promoting Project Management as a quality profession throughout the Thai industry. The Chapter operates as a non-profit organization by a group of dedicated volunteers.

Introducing quality programs to the Thailand Project Management community does have incur substantial costs. Venues must be rented, meals provided, andsometimes speakers’ costs are reimbursed when they need to travel to Thailand for presentations. For that PMI needs support. Funding is partially acquired through training sessions, the events themselves, and revenue from membership …Read online.

Project Management Charisma

by Mr. Kevin Taylor, Content Committee Volunteer, PMI Thailand Chapter

When I passed the PMP exam back in 2009, it was important to recall the various sources of power available to the project manager. They were Legitimate, Expert, Reward, Punishment, and Referent. Each type of power has its place and time for usage by the project manager. Of these types, referent power was the most intriguing because it depended on the personality of the individual project manager.
